"Family Tree Project has been such a blessing for my individual growth and for my growth in my relationship.
Testimony time - my fiancé and I had been looking for a counselor/therapist and started working with one at a different company. However, God led that counselor to Family Tree Project and thankfully both his previous company as well as Family Tree Project gave us their blessings to continue our sessions with him [at Family Tree Project].
At one point, we asked if we could each get into individual counseling as well as keep our couples counseling and let me tell you, this routine of individual and couples counseling has changed our lives dramatically and all for the better.
Our goal with counseling was, of course, to alleviate the seemingly grueling challenges of our relationship, but just as importantly the challenges within ourselves. We wanted to learn how to become the best versions of ourselves; having our insides match our outsides; the way we see ourselves become/match who we really are, in this moment.
We've learned, and continue to learn, to handle/deal with/address our emotions and reactions in a more productive way, rather than just yelling/arguing our points AT each other. We've learned to assess ourselves and our emotions so that we could rationally takes steps forward to resolution; this has helped tremendously with my personal well-being (and I'm sure for my partner's too).
Perspective has been one of the biggest revelations we've had in these sessions; it impacts so much of our daily lives and seems like such a simple concept, but just wasn't that simple for us (and we're still learning!). This along with so many different tools we've picked up along the way have helped ease our minds, bodies and spirits from all of the animosity we tend to hold onto.
The counselors that we work with help us in such a gentle, yet honest way; their approach tells us that they really do care about us and what we want from these sessions. They learn about us, help us achieve small victories along the way to our ultimate goals, and are patient but still push us to unlock different layers of ourselves. They are so thoughtful in navigating the sessions to not only listen to what we have to say, but actually hear us and respond with such insightful feedback that helps us think and gives us perspective on situations that we could usually spin out on and ultimately, get stuck in.
I could go on and on about how much I love working with Family Tree Project and how grateful I am to have them as a part of my journey, but I'll just end with this; thank you so much to Cory and her team at Family Tree Project. It's been a wild ride and I feel like the fun's just begun!
